Syafiq Busthamin broke his personal record, thus winning the Podium Archery Championship Series 3
Sabah recurve male archer, Syafiq
Busthamin took a step forward when he won the Podium Archery Championship Series
3 2022 after recording a total score of 666 for 2 sets of individual scoring. The
competition took place on November 13 at the National Sports Council Field
(MSN) Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and more interestingly, two national Olympic
archers who represented Malaysia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Khairul Anuar
Mohamad and Syaqiera Mashayikh, also competed in this competition.
Syafiq led by 10 points with a score of 339 points compared to his closest challenger, Haiqal Danish who represents Pahang state and also a Pelapis Kebangsaan (PK) who only scored 329 points in the first set. However, in the second set, the competition became more intense when these two archers managed to record the same total score, which is 327 points, where Haiqal Danish got more X’s than Syafiq, thus making himself in the first place in that set.
In an interview session with Syafiq, he seemed quite proud and satisfied with his performance. The archer who represented Sabah at the 2022 SUKMA Games was also surprised when he suddenly broke his personal best record this time. Syafiq also felt that this was an unusual thing for him. Thus, he also hopes that young archers who have just tamed themselves in this sport will continue to practice until they achieve their desired dreams
Meanwhile, in the women's recurve
category, our national Olympic archer, Syaqiera Mashayikh managed to maintain
the winning momentum when she once again obtained the top ranking by dominating
both sets that were contested after recording a total score of 650 points. However,
the 22-year-old archer was less satisfied with the score that she got in the
second set, which was 319 points, because the sudden change of weather in that
set which become hotter made her tired quickly. Syaqiera also hopes that in the
upcoming year she will be able to collect ranking points to qualify herself for
the upcoming Olympic Games.
